Dependence means needing someone or something to help you.

For example, when you are a baby, you depend on your parents to take care of you. They feed you, change your diaper, and make sure you are safe. As you grow older, you become more independent and can do things on your own, like getting dressed or eating by yourself. But sometimes, we still need help from others, and that's okay. We all have moments of dependence.
