Comprehensive means including everything or covering a lot of things. For example, a comprehensive book about animals would have information about all different kinds of animals, like lions, elephants, and birds.

Comprehensive can also mean understanding something completely. For example, if you study really hard for a test and know all the answers, you have a comprehensive understanding of the material.
