A ballot is a special kind of paper that you use to vote for something. It's like a piece of paper with choices on it, and you mark the choice you want.

For example, imagine we are choosing the class pet. We can write the names of different animals on the ballot, like 'dog', 'cat', and 'rabbit'. Then, everyone in the class can mark their favorite animal on the ballot. After that, we count the marks to see which animal gets the most votes and becomes our class pet!
