Amateur (noun): Someone who does something for fun or as a hobby, not as a job. For example, my friend Lily is an amateur painter. She loves to paint beautiful pictures, but she doesn't do it as a job. It's just something she enjoys doing in her free time.

Amateur (adjective): Something that is not done by a professional. For example, my mom baked a cake for my birthday. She is an amateur baker because she doesn't bake cakes for a living. But her cake was still delicious!
