Acute means something is very sharp or severe. For example, if you accidentally touch a hot stove, it will cause acute pain. Ouch!

Acute can also mean that someone is very good at noticing or understanding things. Like when you play hide and seek, and your friend has acute eyesight, they can find you quickly!
